31 Days To Make A House A Home: Day 15: Bathing the Bathroom

I would like the emphasize that how much I hate cleaning.  Every time I do it, I can't help but think don't they have house elves for this? But alas this is not Hogwarts, and so I am resigned to cleaning up my bathroom myself.

We have, quite possibly, the smallest full bathroom in the world.  I'm pretty sure prisons have bigger bathrooms, or at least tidier inmates.  Between the three of us, we can't seem to keep it clean for long.  Clothes, baby toys, random products, and my least favorite of them all- hair.  I'm going to point a finger of blame here.  You see, I have long, thick hair that sheds like a dog in spring.  It gets everywhere.  I find my hair in the most uncanny of places, likes inside my baby's diaper, in the food I cook, in water bottles, and in piles and piles on the floor.  My hair is long however, and while it tends to get caught in vacuums, it's rather easy to pick up and throw away.  This is not the hair in my bathroom.  You see, Paul is/was a hairstylist, which means he cuts his own hair.  He also lets his beard grow out; and just when it's getting long enough to braid, goes clean shaven.  He says he cleans it up, but as you can see by the current state of our counter, it's hard to get between all the nooks and crannies.  It's gross.  And nearly impossible to clean, which is probably why it doesn't happen often.

But I did it.  And managed not to make snarky comments to Paul about the hair on everything, though I expect to get one of those looks should he read this.

I am happy to say that I found the towels in the absolute perfect color.  There's a small stripe of teal in the wall paper, and it matches it perfectly.  And they were red tagged at target!  But I'm not going to put them up, not yet.  I really want to paint, and until I do I'm not putting up those towels, not yet.

Okay, I know my shower curtain is ugly.  It's probably one of the most hideous shower curtains in the history of the world.  But it was free (thanks mom, and whoever randomly gave it to my mom!) and so until I find one that I love that matches the colors I'm going for, I'm not going to buy anything.

That's it for tonight!  It's so nice to have a nice clean bathroom again!

  1. omg i hate cleaning bathrooms too! one tip i found from a friend was for shower/tub strubbing are those scrubbers with the handles on them that you put soap in for dishes - they are wonderful. i bought two different kinds one with a plain dish scrubber and one with a bristle scrubber (hence proof of my hatred of cleaning a bathroom LOL). i put shampoo instead of dishsoap and it goes much faster than the ole regular scrub method. hope this helps!

    1. I love that idea! That would definitely make it less yucky. Often times I end up using a rag to clean while I'm IN the shower, so that the grossness can wash off of me right away too!
