Rediscovering Advent

Today is the first day of December.  It marks the end of NaNoWriMo and the beginning of the Christmas season.   I love Christmas.  I love pine trees and presents and hot chocolate.  I love eggnog and gingerbread and mint M&Ms.  I love warm fireside conversation and the music and the indescribable joy of giving.  Christmas brings families together through tradition and through faith.  But before we wake up to sleigh bells and half eaten cookies, we have the liturgical season of advent.

Part of celebrating advent will be reading Matthew Kelly's book Rediscover AdventAdvent isn't just about shopping and candy stuffed calendars and elves on shelves- which is why we will be reprioritizing and focusing on what really matters this Christmas.  This lovely little book is structured reading, reflection, meditation and prayer every day.  Since writing has always been a form of prayer for me, I will be blogging my responses here.  Please come back and visit to see how we are preparing for Christmas!

"The season of Advent is a time of expectation  when we prepare our home and our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day.  It is a season of hope, a time to nurture peace and experience joy in anticipation for the love that is made incarnate with the birth of Christ." -Matthew Kelly

God Bless you!
