Meet Your Fellow Trifectans

I've been writing with the Trifecta community for a few months now, and thought it was time I finally link up.

What is your name (real or otherwise)?
My name is Megan Eccles.  I haven't settled on a pen name, and I don't know if I ever will.

Describe your writing style in three words.
Water and grow.  I'm a discovery writer, that's what I do.

How long have you been writing online?
In my youth I was part of a writing community, but it lost its grant and stopped existing.  I've been blogging for two years, though my blog has turned from baby to stories in the past few months.

Which, if any, other writing challenges do you participate in?
Oh lawd yes.  Yeah Write, both grid and speakeasy.  Velvet Verbosity's 100 words, Write on Edge's Write at the Merge, Concrete Words (though very occasionally) and #fiveminutefriday.

Describe one way in which you could improve your writing.
I like to fall back on passive voice and I shouldn't.  The more I write, the better I do, so I guess the answer is writing.

What is the best writing advice you’ve ever been given?
Butt in chair, hands on keyboard.

Who is your favorite author?
This is a cruel question, how can I just pick one?  Tied for first is CS Lewis, who took me on my first adventure, Stephen King, who terrified and thrilled me, and Brandon Sanderson, who taught me to trace every detail of a story, to find the hidden promises.

How do you make time to write?
There is no finding time, it's all about shaping your priorities.  I have made writing a priority.  That means staying up late or waking up early, and giving up on other things that I like to (or sometimes need to) do.  Right now a pile of dishes is glaring at me and my laundry needs folding, but I'm writing instead.

Give us one word we should consider using as a prompt. Remember--it must have a third definition.
Zenith is a lovely word.

Direct us to one blog post of yours that we shouldn't miss reading.
This is one of my favorites, I made my mother cry when I wrote it.
