Cherry Pits

CHARM (verb) 1a : to affect by or as if by magic : compel   b : to please, soothe, or delight by compelling attraction 2: to endow with or as if with supernatural powers by means of charms; also : to protect by or as if by spells, charms, or supernatural influences 3: to control (an animal) typically by charms (as the playing of music)

She gave him those bedroom eyes and he was charmed, instantly.  He followed her out of the hazy, flashing lights of the club out into the alley way.  The air was wet as she took his hand and led him away from the glow of the street lamps.

"I'm just this way," she said.  Her lipstick was still perfect, the red of overripe cherries.

Above him he could see the flash of a falling star despite thickness of the city's sky.  He thought about wishing on it, but he was convinced that his wishes were already coming true.  She pulled him beneath a stairwell and kissed him on the mouth.  She leaned back, smiling for a moment. It was curious. The glint of her teeth against the darkness of her lips was almost jarring.  She brought them down into the soft of his neck.

First there was pleasure, and then there was pain.  Then, there was nothing.

Ouh, ouh. Vampire story! This is very cleverly done. I felt something was amiss when I read 'He thought about wishing on it'.

  2. LOVE!
I am not a fan of vampire stories in the list, but this was just... SO GOOD!

  3. Oooo. I knew this was going to end badly for him! "...those bedroom eyes.. rearely lead people to good places. "Overripe cherries" really stood out as well.

Interestingly, when I read it the first time I didn't see the last line, until I was getting ready to comment, and I think that you could do without it if you wanted to.

  4. I love the images of the red lipstick and the cherries-they work well in this perfect little story of vampire seduction! Excellent, Megan!

  5. Great work. You've captured the 'she's a sexy woman with sharp teeth that wants to eat me but I want to go to bed with her' really well.

'Eat me' as in 'bad things happen',,,

  6. I would say i was seduced by this piece, but in light of this week's prompt, I was certainly charmed. "red of overripe cherries" Such a sultry description!
